The way in which maths is taught in 2017 is probably very different to how parents and carers were taught just a few years ago.
Maths in primary school is based on the National Curriculum. Children are expected to understand and practise different calculations and know specific facts by the end of each year and key stage. The National curriculum for maths is below.
At Belvoirdale, children follow the national curriculum and to ensure consistency, there is a school calculation policy that sets out the methods and models of calculation for each year group. Our current calculation policy is being reviewed and will be available here shortly.
To support children’s learning at home and to improve outcomes, Belvoirdale have subscribed to MyMaths. This is an interactive online teaching and homework resource that has been written and developed by teachers for teaching, practising and assessing children’s maths fluency across the school. Children have their own individual log on and work can be monitored by staff.
