Belvoirdale has launched its Harvest Appeal for 2018.
In our assemblies this week, Mrs Sargeant & I will be speaking to the children about the precious commodity that is food. We will be discussing the time and toil that is taken to grow food, its impact on the environment in which we live and the reasons why we should be grateful for the food that we have. The assembly power point is available below & it will show how many miles our food travels before it gets to our plate. The children will see how important food banks are in the current social climate and the vital role that Coalville Foodbank in Margaret Street plays in supporting our friends and colleagues in the local community.
Once again, Belvoirdale is proud to support the Coalville Foodbank by educating our children in its role. Therefore, from today, we are inviting you and the children to donate food and in particular, the following items which are always the most useful at food banks and which Coalville have especially requested.
On Friday October 12th at 10.00am, there will be a Harvest Service at The Methodist Church in Marlborough Square where we will give thanks for the food that we have and invite Coalville Food bank to accept our gifts.
All food should be brought to the school office. For more information about food banks, including how to get support if you are in need, visit: www.coalvillefoodbank.org.uk firstname.lastname@example.org 01530 838355
