At Belvoirdale Primary school we strongly believe in growing the individual child alongside delivering an exciting, motivating and engaging curriculum. We understand that what we do in school and what parents do at home helps shape the character of our children.
We do this best by finding all the times they exhibit specific characteristics and noticing so that they know it is something we value.
Every week, the staff at Belvoirdale will nominate 2 children from their class to receive a ‘Character Commendation’ Award which recognises those children who have demonstrated one of Belvoirdale’s positive character traits at school.
This is celebrated in our Celebration Assembly which takes place every Friday at 1.30pm for Key Stage 1 and Foundation Stage and at 1.50pm for Key Stage 2.
Children are given certificates and a small gift to celebrate their achievements.
This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to witness their children's pride as they receive an award recognising their efforts. Pupil's names will appear on the weekly newsletter if they are to receive an award in the assembly and parents will receive a text notifying them.
Class of the Week
A Class of the Week trophy is awarded each week to the class in KS1 and KS2 that has won the most tokens. Tokens are awarded to pupils who demonstrate good manners, behaviour and who demonstrate the schools Golden Rules. Each term, the class that wins the trophy the most, is awarded a special prize such as a morning at the cinema.
Writer of the Week
A child’s writing is celebrated each week. It is printed on the weekly newsletter and displayed on the interactive white board in good work assembly.
Reading Class of the Week
It is an expectation that children read every night with an adult and have their reading records signed. These reading records are returned to school each day and the reading is recorded on a class reading chart. The total number of reads is added up each week and the class with the highest number will win the reading trophy.
A weekly attendance trophy is awarded to the class who achieves the highest weekly attendance. Those children who have 100% attendance each term have the chance to win a bike or scooter at the end of the academic year.
